Sophisticated Smile

Grupo formado en el 2005 por Javi (bateria) y Luis (bajo), antiguos miembros de Sensoria, a los que se les une Jose (guitarra) y Andrés (guitarra y teclado). Tras la marcha de Luis entra Javi al bajo, y se une Inma a la voz. Posteriormente, Wynand sustituye a Inma en la voz, y más tarde abandonan la banda Jose y Javi (bajo), y entran a formar parte de la misma Jose Alberto (también ex-Sensoria) a la guitarra, y Aranza al bajo. Los temas hasta ahora han sido compuestos por Jose (ex-miembro del grupo), Javi y Andrés, aunque se arreglan entre todos, de tal manera que cada uno aporta su toque y así conseguimos que las canciones nos lleguen a todos por igual, e integremos las influencias de cada uno de nosotros, que son variadas. El gusto de Javi por el gótico y el after-punk de los 80, la afición de todos por el rock y pop alternativo de todo tipo, y las influencias del punk melódico sobre Jose (ex-miembro de la banda) y Andrés, determinan nuestro eclecticismo. De ello resulta una música que tiene medios tiempos con toques “oscuros”, canciones más rápidas y muy guitarreras, y otras más lentas y atmosféricas en que los teclados marcan la base junto con unas guitarras profundas y bajos elegantes, todas ellas con una melodía coherente y cuidada.

Tras la marcha de Wynand, Jose Alberto y Aranza entran a formar parte de la banda Nat, en la voz, Manolo a la guitarra. y Alex al bajo

Sophisticated Smile was started in 2005 by Javi (drums) and Luis (bass), ex-members of Sensoria, who were later joined by Jose (guitar) and Andres (guitar and keyboard). After Luis left, Javi joined on bass and Inma on vocals. Wynand replaced Inma on vocals and then after Jose and Javi had left, Jose Alberto (another ex-Sensoria member) took on playing the guitar and Aranza the bass. The songs have up to now been composed by Jose (ex-Sophisticated Smile member), Javi and Andres – though arranged so that all the band members get to add their own touch and make songs which are to everyone’s liking. Our influences are diverse, Javi taste for the gothic and eighties after punk, everybody’s love of alternative pop and rock of all types, and Jose (ex-band member) and Andres’s melodic punk influences all determine our eclecticism. In this way come about our “darker” medium tempo songs, the faster and more guitarish ones, and others that are slower and atmospheric where the keyboard leads accompanied by deep-sounding guitars and an elegant bass line, all having coherent and carefully written melodies.

Following the departure of Wynand, Jose Alberto and Aranza, Nat (voice), Manolo (guitar) and Alex (bass) became members of the band.
